Well done to our u15.5 Camogie team on winning the A school county final today against St. Mary’s of Nenagh. They over came Greenhill of Carrick on Suir, the Ursuline convent Thurles, the Presentation convent Thurles and St. Mary’s Nenagh to top the group. They then played  St. Mary’s Nenagh again today in what was end to end stuff by both teams. Excellent Camogie was on display by both teams. St. Mary’s were awarded a penalty but Emily Healy stepped up with a massive save when needed. Sinèad Cowan, Sophie O Sullivan were deliver super ball by half back Mya McCormack to slot over 3 point. St Joesphs had the wind in the 1st half but despite having all the possession, St. Mary’s went in at half time winning 2-6 to 9points.
St. Mary’s came out fast in the second half and scored a goal 30seconds in. However the talented Maria Groome, Sinèad Cowan and Ellie Ryan worked hard slotting over points to claw it back to be just 3 points behind. Deirdre O Brien, Kate Ryan Begley and Michelle Meehan defended from the front not allowing St Mary’s in again. Charlotte Deegan replaced Sophie O Sullivan and proved to aid St. Joseph’s comeback by passing the ball off to Olivia Looby and once again the St. Mary’s goal made a super save to deny St. Joseph’s. Emily Ryan teamed up with Maria Groome and Olivia to score a goal to draw the game with 3 minutes left on the clock. A free from Maria Groome and a final score from Ailish Stapleton sealed  the win for St. Joseph’s. A super performance by Aoife Ryan and Edel Lavery at centre and wing back, and also my Mia Kennedy in the corner. Well done to coaches Ms. O Brien and Ms. Corcoran on a superber win.
